Crawler plans (the homemade Prowler):
I took a car tire still on the rim & bolted it flat to a 2" x 10" x 36" board towards one end. Next I took a 4" x 4" x 36" & bolted it across the other end (I had to use some scrap wood to adjust for height from the ground) on the under side. Then I took some large (I think 7.5") lawn mower wheels & attached them to the ends of the 4" x 4".
I then got some plumbing pipe with flanges & elbows & screwed them into the 4" x 4" to make the push handles I also put a pull handle on the flat tire end board. I then guesstimated by pushing it where I would connect a larger diameter pipe & flange for a loading pin (which I haven't used yet). There you go now you have a easily built homemade Prowler which I have dubbed my Crawler.
I also made a lighter one for my boys using the same size lumber but smaller tire & lawn mower wheels.
You can probably use this as a pull sled also I know you can grab the smaller front handle & get low & pull it, so I can see any reason it wouldn't work as a normal sled.

That is what I'm talking about, but I could still (even with my limited carpentry skills) make one for cheaper.

Sorry:(, No pics mainly because I don't know how to take a pic then post it on the internet. From what I read on your blog I would suggest using a tire lying flat which will work on cement or grass (or most anything). I use mine on a grass field (formerly a horse field) so there are a few bumps & such nothing major. I will try it on a hill one day that ought to be interesting (or impossible;)). Look at my description then I'm sure you can improve on it. I put it together in 30 minutes or less once I figured out what I needed.

The lawnmower wheels are for support of the back (wide) end. They allow the flat car tire to provide friction for resistance while still having the ability of steering adjustments plus for ease turning the device 180 degrees. When you lift the front (flat car tire) end the "crawler" will spin around fairly easy (still a little hard since you are freight train breathing at this point). This way you can push (or even pull) crawler back to starting point.

I even made a smaller/lighter one for my sons. As a matter of fact they did the crawler push & hand over hand rope pull along with 200yds jogs & hanging knee raises.

I mix things up with doing anywhere from 50-100yd sets or just use a 100yd push as a finisher. I wonder how hard it would be to rig & use a tumpline on it? Hmm....I may give it a shot.
